The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (GMRS) leads from Maerz , together with its partner organizations a training application for the construction of the Hellenic Coast Rescue. Sea rescue missions between Turkey and the Greek island of Lesbos. Many NGOs from different countries take part in addition to the Coastguard and EU border control agency Frontex on rescue operations. From the Turkish coast to the island of Lesbos a main refugee route runs to Europe .

Die Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (DGzRS) fuehrt ab Maerz zusammen mit ihren Partnerorganisationen einen Ausbildungseinsatz zum Aufbau der Hellenic Coast Rescue durch. Seenot-Rettung Missionen zwischen der Tuerkei und der griechischen Insel Lesbos. Zahlreiche NGOs aus verschiedenen Ländern beteiligen sich neben der Kuestenwache und EU-Grenzschutzagentur Frontex an Einsaetzen zur Seenotrettung. Von der turkischen Küste zur Insel Lesbos verlaeuft eine Hauptfluchtroute nach Europa.
