Refugees in the port of Mytilini on Lesbos are waiting for permission to take a ferry to the European mainland. Around 1000 refugees currently arrive daily on the Greek Aegean island of Lesbos, many of them from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Authorities are initially accommodating many of them in overcrowded camps far away from towns, while others sleep in tents or in the open air. After a few days, the refugees are in most cases granted permission to leave the island by ferry for Athens. Due to the crisis in Greece, the situation of the refugees in the country is also becoming increasingly difficult.
Flüchtlinge im Hafen von Mytilini auf Lesbos warten auf die Genehmigung für eine Fährfahrt auf das europäische Festland. Etwa 1000 Flüchtlinge treffen derzeit täglich auf griechischen Ägäis-Insel Lesbos ein, darunter viele aus Syrien, Afghanistan und Pakistan. Behörden bringen zahlreiche von ihnen zunächst in überfüllten Lagern weit abseits von Ortschaften unter, andere schlafen in Zelten oder im Freien. Nach einigen Tagen erhalten die Flüchtlinge in den meisten Fällen die Erlaubnis mit einer Fähre die Insel Richtung Athen zu verlassen. Durch die Krise in Griechenland verschärft sich zunehmend auch die Lage der Flüchtlinge im Land.
